Contributing to a kinder, more caring world thanks to Erasmus+

Senigallia 11-15 November 2024

The ‘ Let’s do IT’ Erasmus+ group mobility to Liceo Statale ‘Enrico Medi’ in Senigallia aimed to show how simple actions can contribute to the creation of a kinder, more caring and inclusive world. The project activities concentrated on the theme of inclusion which was introduced thanks to a thought-provoking performance by the Italian school’s Performing Arts Workshop (LAP) which brings together students and teachers who strive to break down the barriers which often exist inside a learning community.

The participants from our partner schools in Ozolnieki in Latvia, Rzeszov in Poland and Penalva do Castelo in Portugal then took part in thinking routines with their Italian hosts to gather their ideas about the theme and in teambuilding exercises to create a positive, collaborative atmosphere in the six international groups into which they had been divided. During the week, on 13 November, we celebrated World Kindness Day in Assisi, known as the town of peace. The teams had the opportunity to spend time together there and collect more photographic material to add to the photos they had gathered on the chosen subject before leaving their home countries. All these materials were shared in the final sustainable photographic exhibition and the collaborative Team Talks on the last day of the mobility.

The visit to the Omero Tactile Museum in the regional capital Ancona, was an extraordinary experience which enabled participants to experience at first-hand what it is like to interact with a world which they cannot see. It helped them to be more understanding towards people with disabilities and to be even more aware of the need for inclusion and the necessity of removing those barriers which affect the quality of many lives.

Everyone involved in this Erasmus+ mobility experienced how teamwork and shared leadership can produce fun activities to improve negotiating, multilingual, multicultural, problem-solving skills, creativity and self-confidence. The quality of the tasks they carried out together to create a photographic exhibition, haiku and collaborative talks on such an important theme deepened the participants’ awareness of how even the smallest act of kindness can be a step towards a more caring world.
