This unique experience brought together students and teachers from Romania, Germany, Poland, Italy, and Portugal for a week filled with intercultural learning, artistic exploration, and environmental awareness.
The central theme, “Creating Art from Waste – A Journey into Sustainable Sculpture,” challenged participants to transform discarded materials into powerful ecological messages, fostering not only creativity but also a shared responsibility for the planet.

The mobility began with an opening ceremony, where international teams were introduced and warmly welcomed. Students then took part in ice-breaking games and group-building activities, setting a collaborative tone for the week.
A special presentation introduced Green Week as part of the Romanian educational calendar, followed by the unveiling of the central project theme: creating sculptures from recycled materials.
The day concluded with the first planning session, where students began preparing for the creative journey ahead.

Participants visited the historic city of Sibiu, discovering its charming old town and enjoying free exploration in international teams.
In the afternoon, students took part in relaxation techniques guided by the Portuguese and German teams, and immersed themselves in nature during a guided tour at the ASTRA National Museum Complex, the largest open-air ethnographic museum in Europe.
The experience provided the perfect blend of cultural immersion and environmental connection, fueling inspiration for the artistic work to come.

Back in Deva, the international teams dived into the heart of the project. Each group focused on one of five key environmental topics:
Throughout the day, students worked hands-on with recycled materials to bring their concepts to life through sculpture.
In the afternoon, participants took part in an exciting “Questing Route” interactive city game, using the GooseChase app to explore Deva’s key landmarks and hidden gems in a fun, educational way.

The fourth day was dedicated to cultural enrichment. Participants traveled to Hunedoara to visit the iconic Corvin Castle, one of Romania’s most impressive medieval landmarks.
The castle tour was followed by a concert offered by students and teachers of the host school — a special artistic moment that blended music, talent, and emotion.
In the evening, international guests spent time with their host families, strengthening personal connections and experiencing Romanian hospitality.

The final day celebrated everything the students had worked toward. The international teams put the finishing touches on their sculptures and presented them during a public exhibition at the school.
Each group explained their artistic process and the ecological message behind their installation. The event was both a creative showcase and a call to action for sustainability.
The week concluded with reflections and feedback, followed by a heartfelt farewell ceremony and a joyful party at the school canteen, where students danced, laughed, and celebrated the friendships formed throughout the project.
To preserve and share the brilliant work created during the week, each sculpture was professionally 3D scanned. These digital models are now available in an interactive virtual gallery, allowing visitors to explore the creativity and environmental messages behind each installation from anywhere in the world.
